YES
Eric SavoieHave you ever wondered how much of life you’re missing by staying inside the invisible walls of your comfort zone? Those walls are warm and familiar, sure. But they’re also the reason you keep saying no. No to opportunities, no to people, and, more importantly, no to the best version of yourself. It’s time to start saying yes. Not just a polite “Maybe next time” kind of yes, but a real, eyes wide open yes to life.
The power of saying yes goes beyond just agreeing to new things. It’s a choice, a statement of intent that you’re ready to step into the unknown. And the beauty of it? You don’t need to have it all figured out. In fact, the magic often lies in embracing the uncertainty. That’s where growth happens. That’s where you discover the parts of yourself you didn’t even know existed.
One of my favourite times when I said yes. Was a simple invite to a night out dancing in Bali. I wasn’t even settled in yet. I didn't even get a chance to see around the place. But that simple yes led to laughter, connection, new friendships and an undeniable rush of joy. One of the best nights, and all with people that started out as a group of strangers. It showed me that life has so much more to offer when I stop getting in my own way.
Saying yes opens doors, not just to experiences but to self-discovery. Each new opportunity is like a puzzle piece, helping you build the most complete and authentic version of yourself. You won’t always succeed, and that’s okay. The point isn’t to be perfect, it’s to try. To live. To learn. To expand.
You have free will. That’s a powerful realization, isn’t it? At any moment, you can choose to break free from the narratives that have kept you stuck. You can choose to rewrite the script. It’s not always easy, fear of failure or judgment can creep in, but those fears are often just illusions. On the other side of fear lies freedom.
Think about it. When was the last time you felt truly alive? Maybe it was during a spontaneous road trip, trying a food you couldn’t pronounce, or saying yes to a project you didn’t feel ready for but crushed anyway. Those moments stay with you. They’re proof that the best stories start with a single yes.
Living without borders doesn’t mean being reckless. It means being intentional. It’s about letting curiosity guide you and being willing to embrace the awkward, the unfamiliar, and the unexpected. Because when you do, you realize that life isn’t about avoiding discomfort, it’s about finding meaning in it.
So here’s my challenge, say yes. Not to everything, boundaries are important, but to the things that scare you just a little. The things that make your heart race in that good, electrifying way. Whether it’s learning a new skill, striking up a conversation with a stranger, or finally pursuing that passion project, lean into it. You might surprise yourself.
Because every yes is a vote for the person you’re becoming. Every yes is a step closer to the most authentic, vibrant, and fulfilled version of you. And isn’t that what we’re all chasing? A life lived fully, with no regrets and no “what ifs.”
The next time an opportunity comes knocking, take a breath before you answer. Yes. Just imagine where it might take you. You may end up building a website and writing blog post about it!
